Triple-A

Durham Bulls (59-65) 6, Syracuse Mets (67-55) 9

BOX SCORE

Despite falling down 3-0 early, Syracuse came back to beat the Durham Bulls 9-6 behind Drew Gilbert and Yolmer Sánchez’s extra-base hits. Gilbert launched his second home run in the past three games, reaching base safely in 11 of his last 12 games.

  • RHP Mike Vasil (5.67 ERA) 6 IP, 6 H, 4 R (3 ER), 2 BB, 5 K, 2 HR (90 pitches/ 57 strikes)
  • LHP Alex Young (2.30 ERA) 1.2 IP, 0 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
  • LHP Matt Gage (5.73 ERA) 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

Vasil gave Syracuse decent length but allowed two more home runs, bringing his earned run tally in August to 17 (7.63 ERA).

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (60-55) 3, Reading Fighting’ Phils (52-65) 9

BOX SCORE

Clifford has really cooled off from his hot June and July–he has only one extra-base this month but has maintained a solid OBP (.353).

  • RHP Luis Moreno (4.12 ERA) 4 IP, 6 H, 4 R (3 ER), 1 BB, 3 K (60 pitches/ 41 strikes)
  • RHP Trey McLoughlin (1.95 ERA) 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K

Though he missed the first half of August due to injury, McLoughlin has not allowed a run since June 18th–12 appearances ago.

High-A

Jersey Shore BlueClaws (65-53) 1, Brooklyn Cyclones (57-61) 4

BOX SCORE

Morabito continues to raise his stock as a prospect–he has the most hits (127) and most stolen bases (53) in the Mets farm system while playing excellent defense at all three outfield positions.

  • RHP Jonah Tong (3.47 ERA) 5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K (86 pitches/58 strikes)

Tong was electric for Brooklyn Friday night–striking out eight BlueClaws in just five innings. It was also Tong’s first scoreless outing since July 2nd.

Low-A

Palm Beach Cardinals (73-43) 5, St. Lucie Mets (39-77) 0

BOX SCORE

St. Lucie was shut out again against Palm Beach, losing their 77th game of the season. It’s been a frustrating offensive season for the Low-A Mets, having only two qualified players above a .720 OPS.

Jett Williams made his second rehab appearance after recovery from his April wrist injury, playing seven innings at shortstop on Friday. Williams has picked up hits in both games.

Ovalles has settled into Low-A ball nicely after struggling after his promotion from the complex league. He has allowed only one run in his last four relief appearances (9.2 innings).
