Mets Minors Recap: Luisangel Acuña Delivers Game-Winning Hit

Joander Suarez had his second consecutive strong outing for Double-A Binghamton, and Triple-A Syracuse pulled out a late win behind a clutch Luisangel Acuña two-RBI double.

Syracuse was down two runs coming into the bottom of the eighth inning and put four runs on the board. Acuña didn’t start the game but had the game-winning hit with a pinch-hit two-run double in the eighth.

Tylor Megill had a start reminiscent of his major league outings – four runs in five innings, including two home runs allowed. Reed Garrett had a great rehab outing, striking out three in his inning of work and his fastball was up to 98 mph. Shintaro Fujinami earned the save with a one-inning, one-walk, two-strikeout performance.

Joander Suarez had yet another outing, which made him resemble the player he was at the end of the 2023 season, only getting into trouble after the sixth inning. Grant Hartwig continues to struggle since his return from the IL.

The Brooklyn Cyclones will play a doubleheader on Wednesday, with game one starting at 5:00 P.M.

The pitching today started poorly, then performed well, then fell apart in the ninth inning and put the game out of reach. Wellington Aracena struggled in his Low-A debut.  Brayhans Barreto allowed a solo home run in his two innings but struck out four batters.
