Jonathan Cannon and the South Siders will play a baseball game

Happy Tuesday, White Sox friends. Chances are, you’re back again after a short sabbatical. It’s hard to look away from something so disastrous.

Like you, many other White Sox fans have driven their car back around the block to get a nice, long look at the carnage.

Or perhaps you’ve been on this rollercoaster of anguish this whole time.

You may be wondering where the dead bodies are. Much like his predecessor did literally, Pedro Grifol has figuratively gotten wasted and crashed the car, and continues to evade punishment. Surely we’ll be treated to a postgame interview with the ill-fated skipper popping off toxically-positive platitudes, while somehow offering absolutely nothing.

If you’re a betting person, I’d put my money on the A’s. I know, I know, it’s absurd for a team to lose 22 games in a row. I just have a special feeling about this one being No. 22 for our South Siders.

Here’s our lineup:

And for the A’s:

Jonathan Cannon (1-5, 4.11 ERA) is facing off against Ross Stripling (2-10, 5.64 ERA). Both starting pitchers have had a rough year on the mound. Jonathan Cannon hasn’t seen these A’s, but Stripling is 3-0 with an ERA of 0.77 in four games against the South Siders in his career.

This is the only instance in most of our lifetimes that we’ve seen so many White Sox fans rooting for the losing streak to continue, but it’s only because they want to feel seen.

Do you want the White Sox to win?

It’s a late one tonight, with the first pitch at 8:40 p.m. CST. Tune in on NBC Sports Chicago, or listen on AM 1000.
