Fresh off of a two-game sweep of the New York Yankees in the Subway Series, the Mets pushed their winning streak to four games, clinching a 3-2 victory on Jeff McNeil’s walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning. As noted by Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline, the Mets have signed first-rounder Carson Benge, who received a bonus of $3,997,500 (slot value at No. 19 = $4,219,200). The former Oklahoma State outfielder boasts an appealing skill set and has the potential to develop into a solid hitter in the majors. Tim Britton of The Athletic writes that Benge, initially a two-way player, will only focus on hitting in professional ball.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Mets and catcher Francisco Alvarez had begun long-term extension talks when his agency, Rimas, was decertified, halting negotiations. Alvarez confirmed that despite its legal issues, Rimas remains his agent.

Pitcher Jordan Lyles has signed a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, as reported by Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

According to Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe, pitcher Rich Hill is looking to continue his career and has drawn interest from both the Yankees and Dodgers. At 44, the veteran left-hander is aiming to return for what would be his 20th season in the majors.

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced they have activated pitcher Clayton Kershaw from the injured list and designated reliever Yohan Ramírez for assignment.

San Diego Padres right-hander Dylan Cease threw the second no-hitter of 2024, as he achieved the feat against the Nationals on Thursday afternoon in Washington. Cease threw 114 pitches while walking three and striking out nine, leading the club to a 3-0 victory.

As reported by Jesse Rogers of ESPN, Chicago White Sox starter Garrett Crochet wants a contract extension should he be traded and asked to pitch in the postseason. He also refuses to pitch out of the bullpen due to health concerns, potentially complicating a potential deal as the deadline approaches.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Seattle Mariners are acquiring outfielder Randy Arozarena from the Tampa Bay Rays. In return, the Rays will receive outfielder Aidan Smith, right-hander Brody Hopkins and a player to be named later.
