This means the Mets will not have a starter in the All-Star game, though they have multiple players with compelling cases to be chosen as representatives.
Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo, Luis Severino and J.D. Martinez are all Mets worth discussing for the All-Star game as reserves. We examined their cases recently. Francisco Alvarez would’ve likely been in the conversation if he hadn’t missed so much time due to injury.
All pitchers and position player reserves are chosen through a combination of player ballot selections and choices made by the Commissioner’s Office.
Phase 2 voting begins on June 30 at 12:00 p.m. ET and concludes on July 3 at 12:00 p.m. ET. The All-Star starters will be revealed on MLB Network on July 3 at 7:00 p.m. ET, and the rest of the roster will be announced on MLB Network on July 7 at 5:30 p.m. ET.
