It is a lovely Thursday afternoon in Chicago, as the White Sox play host to the NL Wild Card leading Atlanta Braves in this makeup game from early April. The Braves return to the South Side for this matchup of teams on opposite ends of the baseball standings. The last time these teams faced off, the Pale Hose scratched out a 3-2 victory to pick up their first win of the young season. A 1-4 start after five games doesn’t look so bad after three months of the worst baseball in franchise history ...

The Sox look to right the ship, momentarily, after a resounding sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers, while the Braves come to town after dropping two of three to the Cardinals in St Louis. Atlanta maintains a 3 1⁄2 -game lead on those Cardinals in the Wild Card chase and have everything to play for in this meaningless game for the home team ... as they reach new depths in baseball’s basement.
