Seaman's Finley commits to Purdue baseball

TOPEKA (KSNT) — Seaman high school's baseball team has a long history of success...even though the Vikings snapped a 19-season streak of making the state tournament in 2024.

One of the players in that nearly two-decade-long grip on Class 5A is getting a shot at the Division I level.

Maclane Finley, a 2022 Seaman graduate, has committed to play for Purdue next season.

"First of all, it's a really good academic school," Finley said. "So, you know, getting a degree out of there is certainly a good thing. And obviously the coaches made me really feel at home and I mean, before I even committed, it made me really feel a part of the family there."

This comes after two seasons at Kansas City Kansas Community College, where Finley finished with a 2.03 ERA as a sophomore in 16 appearances.

"The opportunity there to pitch a lot and pitch for a winning team is something that made me really, really want to go there," Finley said.

In his interview with 27 News, Finley repeated over and over again his desire to win with the Boilermakers.

"With the way things are going up there, I have no doubt that we'll be winning some championships there," Finley said.
