Minor League Recap for June 20th, 2024

Columbus Clippers 7, Worcester Red Sox 6

Jose Tena extended his hitting streak to 9 games, going 2-4 with two RBIs. He’s up to a .302 batting average and an .852 OPS on the season. Jhonkensy Noel also stays hot, going 2-5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. Kyle Manzardo was a couple feet short of hitting his first AAA home run since being sent back down, he had to settle for a double off the wall.

Xzavion Curry pitched two scoreless innings before he was pulled at just 32 pitches. This makes me wonder if maybe they plan on calling him up for a bullpen role.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies 9, Akron RubberDucks 5

Kahlil Watson went 2-4 with a double and a 446 foot bomb that had an exit velocity of 108 mph against Mets top prospect Brandon Sproat. Watson continues to intrigue me despite having a pedestrian slash line this season. CJ Kayfus continues to prove that he is one of the best hitters in the entire organization going 2-5 with a double.

Doug Nikhazy struggled today, allowing 5 runs in 5 innings while striking out 5 and walking 1. His ERA is still a solid 3.17. Jack Leftwich and Lenny Torres both gave up 2 runs in 2 innings of relief.

Lake County Captains 3, South Bend Cubs 1

Angel Genao went 1-5 with an RBI single. Angel Zarate, Tyresse Turner, and Zac Fascia all had a hit and a walk.

Carter Spivey threw 4.2 innings, he gave up just one run while striking out two and walking three. Steve Hajjar recorded the win with two scoreless innings in relief

Lynchburg Hillcats 3, Charleston RiverDogs 4

Ralphy Velazquez went 1-4 with a sac fly, Rafael Ramirez Jr. went 1-4 with a double. Kevin Rivas went 2-3 with a walk.

Yorman Gomez had a solid outing, although he walked 5 batters while striking out 6, but he held the Charleston offense to just one run on two hits. His ERA is down to 3.48 on the season.

ACL Guardians 3, ACL Dodgers 7

DSL CLE Mendoza 9, DSL Padres Brown 2

Gabriel Rodriguez 1-4 with a walk.

DSL CLE Goryl 6, DSL Tampa Bay 0

Dauri Fernandez 1-4 with an RBI. He’s up to a .371 batting average and a 1.013 OPS on the season.
