South Siders look to avoid four-game sweep at home

Happy Sunday, Sox fans. Today (weather pending) the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox will face off as the Birds look to sweep in this four-game set. We’ve truly seen it all in this series so far, and today Garrett Crochet will face off against Kyle Bradish as we look to avoid a fifth straight loss. The last 2-8 stretch has put us well into last place in the league with a 15-38 record, so hopefully today starts a turnaround after a rough two series.

The lefty is 5-4 this year with a 3.75 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. He has been everything we have asked for as a starter, and has made the transition look easy. His last outing against the Toronto Blue Jays was very good, as he went six innings with two hits, one walk, and four strikeouts to pick up the win. The main problem for Garrett was going to be making sure he had solid and long outings, but so far he has pitched deep enough into games. Hopefully he can lock down a hot O’s team.

Bradish is pitching in his fifth game of the season after an elbow injury to start the year that many thought would keep him out longer. Since his return, Bradish has a 2.41 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP. His last few outings have been no longer than five innings, but his last game against the St. Louis Cardinals was solid, with five innings, four hits, one run, and six strikeouts.

Tommy Pham will start it off followed by the red-hot Andrew Vaughn. Gavin Sheets is back out there, Corey Julks is the cleanup hitter, and Korey Lee is behind the plate. Bryan Ramos, Nicky Lopez, Zach Remillard, and Dominic Fletcher round out the bottom of the lineup. Yes, this is one of those lineups that hopefully we will look back on in five years and laugh at.

The game is supposed to start at 1:10 p.m. CT, but the weather isn’t looking too great for at that time. I would expect a delay and the game to get going a little later, but what do I know. Whenever it does come on, watch on NBCSCHI or listen at ESPN 1000.
