Tyler Ferguson heading to Triple-A

The A’s made a move just a few hours before their series opener against the Colorado Rockies, injecting a bit of help into the Oakland bullpen:

The return of Alexander should help boost a bullpen that’s been tested recently. Alexander has yet to make his season debut for the club. The team signed the veteran left-hander over the offseason just before spring training got underway to provide a stabilizing force for an uncertain bullpen. Instead his A’s tenure started with an injury to his ribs that cost him the first month-plus of the season. He’s been with Vegas rehabbing and is to go now. He’ll now return to the team and could make his season debut as soon as tonight.

To make room for Alexander the team optioned rookie right-hander Tyler Ferguson to Triple-A. Ferguson made his big league debut and got off to a quick start with the team, making five scoreless outings before getting rocked for four runs a couple days ago. One would have to imagine that we’ll be seeing Ferguson back up shortly, whenever they need a fresh arm.
