Trying to find your footing in the sport? Just go to Anaheim!
Good morning and happy Friday! As the M’s embark on their road trip, here’s the need-to-know for the day.
In Mariners news...
- Just as we feared, J.P. Crawford did not make the trip to Baltimore with the team after getting hit in the hand by a pitch on Wednesday night. Brent Stecker has the latest on the shortstop’s recovery timeline.
- Sharing this because 1. Mitch content and 2. West Coast League content!
Mitch Haniger of the @Mariners has been so good to us over the years from appearing on 60 Seconds with Dan & @mgits31 to past appearances on the Joe Beaver Show with @MEPOSU. Ian & Marie Jennings host kid is a ⭐️. Check out his @WCLBaseball video at: https://t.co/LFyKjuEx9i pic.twitter.com/TCKajkhTrj

Around the league...
- As the Angels continue to collect the league’s discarded players, they have acquired right-hander Roansy Contreras in a deal with the Pirates.
- Young Dodgers righty Emmet Sheehan recently underwent Tommy John surgery.
- A’s left-hander Ken Waldichuk underwent reconstructive elbow surgery and will miss the remainder of the season as a result.
- Speaking of the A’s, it’s time to start respecting at least one A’s player — closer Mason Miller, who might just be among the best in the sport.
- Dan Szymborski at Fangraphs wonders if Giancarlo Stanton will be enshrined at Cooperstown one day.
- Bad Bunny’s agency has filed a claim against the MLBPA for “placing a death penalty” on the agency through its recent investigation, claiming that the recent legal actions were done with the intention of putting the agency out of business.
Anders’ picks...
- Did I previously state that I wanted the show to just be a one-season thing? Yes. Will I allow myself to be excited for even more content? Also yes.
Seasons 2 and 3 for ‘SHOGUN’ are in the works.
