José Mayorga to manage Panama in WBSC Premier12 2024

<p>Born in 1992, Mayorga is a former Minor League Baseball (MiLB) catcher. He appeared in 244 games for the Philadelphia Phillies farm teams from 2010 to 2015. He is currently a minor league coach for the Toronto Blue Jays and has managed the <a href="https://www.wbsc.org/en/news/chiriqui-federales-repeat-as-panama-pro-baseball-league-champions" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Chiriqui Federales (opens in a new tab)">Chiriqui Federales</a> to the Panama professional Winter League title.</p>

<p>Panama will compete in Group A in Guadalajara and Tepic (Mexico) from 10 to 14 November. They will face the hosts and world No. 2 Mexico, No. 3 USA, No. 6 Venezuela, No. 7 Netherlands, and No. 12 Puerto Rico.</p>

<p>The top two finishers will advance to the Super Round and face Group A's top two teams, which include No. 1 Japan, No. 4 Korea, No. 5 Chinese Taipei, No. 8 Cuba, No. 9 Dominican Republic and No. 11 Australia.</p>

<p>The Tokyo Dome will host the III WBSC Premier12 Super Round (21-23 November) and medal games (24 November).</p>
