Brandon Nimmo Exits Saturday’s Game With Injury

0 6

As the New York Mets play their second game of a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves, the concern now falls on the team’s table setter. Leadoff man and centerfielder Brandon Nimmo left Saturday afternoon’s game with what appeared to be a right-side injury. The Mets revealed it was a right intercostal irritation. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Nimmo took a pitch and felt some tightness. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza and trainer Joseph Golia went to check Nimmo out. Nimmo said he was fine and finished the at-bat with a walk.

In the top half of the inning, Nimmo went out to play his position and finished the inning. He was taken out soon after that, heading into the top of the 5th inning. The Mets are already missing Kodai Senga and catcher Francisco Alvarez in the lineup. Brooks Raley and Drew Smith are also out of the Mets bullpen with injuries, and Raley may need season-ending surgery.

Nimmo has battled injuries throughout his career, and he missed a game earlier this season with a hamstring. He has stayed healthy over the last two years and played over 150 games in each of those seasons. Keep it here on MetsmerizedOnline for updates on Nimmo’s injury.
