A’s vs. Rangers game thread
After a crushing blown save yesterday against the reigning champion Texas Rangers, the Oakland Athletics are hoping to get back on track in Game 2 of the four-game set.
Ross Stripling, who has a solid 4.24 ERA and an even stronger 3.37 FIP so far in the season, will be taking the mound for the A’s opposite Arlington’s Jose Ureña. The 32-year-old swingman will be making his first start of the year.
On offense, the A’s are continuing to give a few rookies plenty of runway, especially as they get more and more comfortable. Kyle McCann, Darell Hernaiz, and Brett Harris have all been swinging the bat well in their opportunities and will hope to hold off any more options as some injured position players ramp back up.

Meanwhile, the Rangers will be swapping out most of the righties in the bottom half of yesterday’s lineup for a group of southpaw batters.
