Sears takes the hill for today’s matchup in Baltimore
The Oakland Athletics (11-16) take on the Baltimore Orioles (16-9) today at beautiful Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore. This is game nine of a ten game road trip that has brought the A’s to visit three division leading clubs in their home ballparks; Cleveland, New York and finally Baltimore.
Mark Kotsay will send 28-year-old lefty JP Sears to the mound today. Sears is 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA in his five 2024 starts. In his last three starts he has given up only six hits and one earned run in 17.1 innings. Reigning American League Manager of the Year Brandon Hyde will send 30-year-old lefty Cole Irvin out to face the A’s today. Irvin is 1-1 with a 4.64 ERA this year in his four previous starts.

Yesterday the Orioles optioned their number one prospect Jackson Holliday to their AAA affiliate Norfolk after a short stint in the big show. Holliday managed just two hits in his thirty-four at-bats.
