FanPost Friday: Seattle Mariners April vibe check
It’s too early to draw any real conclusions, but we all have feelings about it anyways, right?
Hello and welcome back to FanPost Friday! Through 13 games, the Mariners are 5-8 and there has already been a decent amount panic floating around the Mariners blog and social media realm. While 13 games is a very small sample size, it does give us a bit of insight on where the team may be heading this season. Let me just state the obvious loud and clear: It’s far too early to make any real judgements about this team. We’ve gone through the rotation about 3 times. That’s nothing in the grand scheme of the season. The bullpen has been tried and tested early, and some relievers auditioned for certain roles with varying degrees of success, but overall we’ve yet to see the ‘pen at it’s full strength given the setbacks to Matt Brash and Gregory Santos. The batters, well, yeah. It’s early. Some, like Ty France and Mitch Haniger, have hit the ground running following Spring Training while others are off to slower starts. It’s a common thing, as we all know.
After a fairly uneven first road trip of the season to Milwaukee and Toronto that at least ended with a win, the Mariners return for some home cookin’ versus the Chicago Cubs this weekend. By the end of April, the Mariners will have played series against five National League teams. The one true schedule approach is still taking some getting used to for me, but I guess I’ll take it over playing the A’s and Angels six times a season.
Anyways, we are here for an “It’s Early!!!” vibe check, so let’s see how y’all are feeling about these Seattle Mariners
Have a great weekend and go Mariners!
