[Men's Basketball] Saints Get Double OT Victory

Notre Dame, IND. The Holy Cross men's basketball team continued their conference play today, when they played host to Saint Ambrose University to take on the Fighting Bees in McKenna Arena. The Saints and Fighting Bees were going back and forth all half long, exchanging baskets and exchanging leads. Phil Robles was able to knock down a three-pointer late in the half to help give the Saints a 32-26 edge over Saint Ambrose heading into the half. In the second half, the Saints were very efficient from the field shooting 52%. Tommy Snyder and Justin O'Neal were able to find their way into the paint a lot in the half. Snyder had 32 points and O'Neal had 21 points in today's game. The Saints had a 10-point lead going into the final minutes of the half and Saint Ambrose found a way to comeback and tie the game 73-73 to send the game into overtime. In overtime, the Saints were making the most of their opportunities at the free throw line and converting every shot they took. After 5 minutes of overtime play, the game would be tied 81-81 and they would enter double overtime. In double overtime, Tommy Snyder scored 10 straight points for the Saints, including a big three-pointer out of a timeout. The Saints would continue to knock down their free throws to seal the game and win it 99-93. With the win, Holy Cross improves to 12-14 overall and 8-11 in conference play, while the Fighting Bees drop to 4-18 and 3-14.
