Men's Basketball
Saint Mary Men's Basketball went 1-2 on the week, dropping games on the road to Southwestern and Bethany but getting a win over McPherson by a score of 80-67. The Spires shot 40.11 percent in their three games this week, the McPherson game being the highest of the games at 46.9 percent. Saint Mary also shot 64.4 percent from the free throw line throughout their three games. Deshaud St. Martin led his team in scoring this week, averaging 12.7 points per game. The Spires have two home games set for this week, the first at 8 p.m. on Wednesday against Bethel College and the second at 7 p.m. on Saturday against Friends University.

Women's Basketball
Saint Mary Women's Basketball went 2-1 on the week, beating Southwestern and McPherson early in the week, but had their three-game winning streak snapped by Bethany College on Thursday. The Spires had a shooting percentage of almost 40 percent this past week, shooting over 50 percent against the Bulldogs on Thursday night. Alanis Delgado led her team in points, averaging 9.7 points per game. The Women's Basketball team will host Bethel College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Friends University at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Spires Beat McPherson for Third Straight Win
Women's Wrestling
The University of Saint Mary Women's Wrestling team competed against the Friends Falcons on Wednesday, which resulted in a 24-19 win, and also held the Spire Classic, an individual tournament with more than 12 teams represented, on Friday. The Spires got off to a fast start against the Falcons as two opening forfeits, paired with Lauren Lopez winning by fall, propelled Saint Mary to an early 15-0 lead. In the 130-weight class, Teya Villalpando won by tech fall to extend the USM lead to 19-0. The Falcons then climbed back as they rallied off three straight wins in the 136, 143, and 155 classes to close the gap. A forfeit win by the Falcons (191 class) and the Spires (170 class) resulted in a final score of 24-19 in favor of Saint Mary. On Friday, Saint Mary had multiple wrestler's place in the top ten and had two appearances in championship bouts on the day. Alisha Van Scoy won by fall twice on her way to the championship round in the 123-weight class. Van Scoy sealed her victory in that weight class with a 14-9 win by decision over her opponent. In the 191-weight class, Lessly Sandoval also made an appearance in a championship round.

Women's Wrestling has Multiple Top Five Finishes at Spire Classic
Men's Wrestling
The Men's Wrestling team took on Friends University Wednesday, narrowly losing by a score of 27-21. Friends had an early lead over Saint Mary, taking a win in the 125-class due to a vacated stop by the Spires. Ethan Woods (133) and David Hunter (149) got things going for Saint Mary, with each wrestler winning their matches by decision. In the 165-weight class, Jackson Jones got the win for Saint Mary, beating his opponent by decision 8-4. Gabe Chesbro kept the Spires alive in the 184-weight class after pinning his opponent roughly halfway through the first round. However, a loss by fall in the 285 class for Saint Mary sealed a win for the Falcons, 27-21. The Spires will host Ottawa University for their next contest at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Ryan Sports Center.

Bowling
The Men's and Women's Bowling teams went to the first-ever Eagle Invitational held by Avila University in Belton, Missouri, on Saturday and Sunday. The women's team had a slow start on day one but were able to knock enough pins down in their two team games to jump from 11th to ninth to end the day. On Sunday, the Spires maintained their team's hold on ninth place and finished the day in the same spot. Individually, Jordan Reynolds finished in the top 25 of the combined score category. The men's team ended day one in eleventh place and stayed there as Sunday came to a close as well. Joshua Kacich had a finish in the top 25 of the individual combined score category for the Spires. Saint Mary will be at the Kohawk Invitational in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Saturday and Sunday.

Tennis
The University of Saint Mary Men's Tennis team opened their spring season on Saturday, taking on the Doane Tigers and the Midland Warriors. Both team duals ended in losses for the Spires, falling 6-1 and 7-0. Ryan Fox got the first and only individual win of the day for Saint Mary in his singles match, winning 6-2 and 7-5. After Fox, Alec Anderson-Conlon dropped his match 6-2 in set one and 6-1 in the final set. Those two did combine for a rousing double match against the Warriors. The pair of Anderson-Colon and Fox nearly came out with a win but fell 6-4. In the last doubles match of the day, the pair of Jackson Contrucci and Zachary Crumpacker could not keep up with the Midland scoring and fell by a score of 6-1. The Spires will hit the road again to take on Missouri Baptist at 2 p.m. on Friday in St Louis, Missouri.
