[Indoor Track and Field] Indoor Track & Field: Herm Wilson Invitational Recap

WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Track & Field Falcons competed in the Herm Wilson Invitational this past weekend (Jan. 27-28) at the Heskett Center on the campus of Wichita State University.

On the opening day, the Falcons got top-three performances from Ian Hunter (15:46.08) in the Men's 5000 Meter Run and Mikkel Tarver (13.81m) in the Men's Triple Jump, while Gema De Valle competed in the Women's Pentathlon and came in 12th with 2508 points. Aaliyah Ramirez (3.14m) also set a PR in the Women's Pole Vault.  

The final day of competition featured a pair of runner-up showings by Dectrick Edwards (50.69) in the Men's 400 Meter Run and Eli Jacobson (2:34.96) in the Men's 1000 Meter Run.

Kendra Blaylock (1:00.30) also finished on the podium in the Women's 400 Meter run, with Caroline Giles posting two top-four long-distance results in the Women's One Mile Run (5:17.21) and the Women's 1000 Meter Run (3:06.62).

To cap off the event, the team of Blake Balch, Cooper Clawson, Trystan Wright and Edwards finished third (3:26.05) in the Men's 4 X 400 Relay.

Both Falcon indoor squads are next scheduled to compete at the Bearcat Invite starting Thursday (Feb. 2-4) at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo.
