[Women's Basketball] Adams, Smith Propel Saints in Big Win
Milwaukee, Wis. The Holy Cross women's basketball team continued their conference play today when they traveled to Cardinal Stritch University. The Saints started off today's game shooting the ball very efficiently. The Saints shot 56% from the field and 50% from three-point range. The efficient shooting would lead to a 19-18 lead going into the second quarter. In the second quarter, Jordyn Smith led the way with her ability to score the basketball. Smith scored 11 points in the second quarter and would lead the Saints to a 43-36 advantage going into halftime. In the third quarter, the Saints had their best scoring quarter of the game, scoring 31 points. The Saints shot 50% from the field and 63% from three-point range in the quarter. The Saints would take a 74-50 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Saints defense did not let up and was a problem for Cardinal Stritch all game long. The Saints held Cardinal Stritch to 39% shooting from the field and 25% from three-point range in the fourth quarter. The Saints caused Cardinal Stritch to turn the ball over 20 times in the game and Jayda Miller led the way with 5 steals for the Saints. The Saints ability to score efficiently and have constant pressure on defense would lead to a 91-67 victory over Cardinal Stritch. With the win, Holy Cross improves to 7-7 overall and 3-4 in conference play, while Cardinal Stritch drops to 2-10 and 2-6.
