Slanska’s solid hitting boosts Czech Republic win over India

<p>Czech Republic claimed a 17-0 win over India on Friday, on
the back of Katerina Slanska’s perfect hitting performance at the II WBSC U-12
Softball World Cup at Jin-Long Stadium.</p>

<p>Slanska made three-of-three hits, with three runs and two
RBIs. Anezka Svobodova and Daniel Mach also contributed two RBIs each, and the
latter with an inside-the-park homer that highlighted the 12-run stint at the
bottom of the first inning.</p>

<p>The Czech Republic started off strong, first with Svobodova’s
swift performance at the circle at the top of the first, followed by an aggressive
hitting performance led by Slanska, Mach and Krystof Roll. </p>

<p>The rest of the batters continued to challenge the Indian
pitchers and succeeded to score more runs, until Mach’s inside-the-park homer got
the crowd on its feet. Slanska and Roll scored the two runs that closed the
productive 12-0 first inning for Czech Republic.</p>

<p>The Czechs still utilised their advantage and managed to
score runs, but India made some adjustments on their defensive plays, including
the diving catch by first baseman Likitha Dayyala to close the inning. India
conceded in the scoreless third inning.</p>
