[Volleyball] Four Volleyball Falcons receive CSC Academic All-District recognition
WICHITA, Kan. –Four Friends University Volleyball student-athletes have earned the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) Academic-All District award, the organization has announced.
The four selections for the Falcons are the maximum nominations allowed.
Academic All-District winners now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with first-, second and third-team Academic-All-America honorees set to be announced in late December.
The Volleyball Falcons CSC Academic All-District selections are listed below:
Sarah Lazar (SR/Rose Hill, Kan. )
* Historic player that set the school's all-time kills (1357) and blocks (494) record
* Named KCAC Player of the Year and was a first-team All-KCAC selection
* Led the conference in kills (492), kills per set (4.24) and hitting percentage (.374) this season
* Was second in the KCAC in blocks per set (1.13) and her hitting percentage was third in the NAIA
* Also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors last year and is an NAIA and KCAC Scholar-Athlete
Mikaela Pachner (SR/Cimarron, Kan. )
* Versatile player that ranked fourth on the team with 41 blocks on the season
* Recorded an all-around stat line of 64 kills and 50 digs for the Falcons
* Solid student-athlete that earned both NAIA and KCAC Scholar-Athlete recognition
Maddy Strecker (SO/Hutchinson, Kan. )
* Ranked fifth in the KCAC with 6.67 assists per set this season
* Exploded for a career-high 46 assists in a dramatic 3-2 win at Avila earlier this season
* Earned KCAC Scholar-Athlete honors recently and will be an NAIA Scholar-Athlete once it's announced
Rachel Taylor (SR/Hays, Kan. )
* Gave the Falcons a solid complimentary DS/Libero with 284 digs on the season
* Solid student-athlete that is both an NAIA and KCAC Scholar-Athlete selection
* Recorded a season-high 18 digs in a dramatic 3-2 victory at Avila earlier this season
