[Baseball] Hawks Bounce Back for Doubleheader Split with Firebirds

0 67

ESCONDIDO, Calif. – It was the tale of two games for the San Diego Christian College Hawks baseball team on Saturday at the Saint Katherine Firebirds. The Hawks couldn't match the firepower of USK in the penultimate game of the four-game series losing 4-16, but finished strong with an 8-5 victory in the finale.

GAME 1

Johnny Radomskiy was the standout offensive performer for the Hawks in the day's opener. The senior outfielder went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI driving in Davin Burroughs with a single in the second inning and doubling home speedster Jalani Brown in the fourth. Brown had reached on a double of his own.

Alec Arnone continues to produce for SDCC as well adding an RBI double.

In the end, the 4 runs the Hawks produced did not keep pace with the 16 scored by USK.

GAME 2

San Diego Christian did what was necessary and ground out team runs in every inning save one in the second game for the doubleheader.

Johnny Radomskiy stayed hot on the day, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI and two runs scored, getting involved in over half of the team's offensive production.

Tre Pankratz nearly matched Radomskiy's effort, by having a 2-for-4 day with 3 RBI, and scoring once.

Aaron Hoch and Jake Luther also had 2-for-4 days, while Cade Cabral and Davin Burroughs contributed as well.

San Diego Christian starting pitcher, Jacob Kokeny earned the victory, and Luke Gentry, who shut out the Firebirds over 3-and-a-third innings, the save.

UP NEXT

The Hawks travel to Fullerton on February 18-19, opening GSAC play against the No. 16 Hope International Royals.
