NEW ORLEANS – The Friends University Men's Indoor Track & Field Falcons are ranked sixth in the first edition of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rating index, announced today (Jan. 26).

The Falcons are also the top-ranked unit in the South Central Region and the KCAC.

"I am proud of this group, they have really matured over the last year and it shows with them being ranked first in the South Central region and sixth nationally midway through this season," said Friends track & field head coach Henry Brun. "I like how we are well-rounded and have a little bit of depth in our event groups, which gives us some versatility as we look at maximizing points at the KCAC Championships in a few weeks."

Through three events thus far this season, the Falcons have shown solid results across the board with 10 event titles, 11 runner-up showings and eight third-place finishes along with hitting six NAIA "A" standards and 12 "B" standards.

The Falcons will next compete at the Washburn Open this weekend (Jan. 28-29) at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility in Topeka, Kan.

"I am really enjoying the leadership that has grown with the team – our upperclassmen are setting the example for our younger athletes to follow and they are building a strong culture of accountability," said Brun. "I'm excited for what the next few weeks will bring and hopefully we can make a big splash at NAIA Nationals this year."
