[Indoor Track & Field] Baucom Hits NAIA Leading Toss in Shot Put

Doane Track and Field hosted the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic on Saturday inside Fuhrer Field House and Fred Beile Arena. The Tigers met the NAIA qualifying standards in six events with nine athletes hitting marks that met either the automatic or provisional standard.

In women's action, the top performance of the day came from Alivia Baucom (FR/Rock Port, Mo.) in the shot put. She hit a throw of 13.70m (44-11.50), posting the best throw in the NAIA at this point of the season. Allison Skala (SR/North Platte, Neb.) was right on Baucom's heels, hitting a throw of 13.60m (44-07.50) to move into third on the NAIA chart. Both marks were NAIA automatic qualifying marks.

Joey Stenson (SR/Denver, Colo.) hit a provisional qualifying mark in the women's weight throw. She hit a toss of 15.95m (52-04.00), the 13th-best mark of the season in the NAIA.

On the track, Lindsay Adams (FR/Omaha, Neb.) was three-hundredths of a second off her season best time in the 60m hurdles. She ran a time of 9.11 to place third, meeting the provisional qualifying time on the day.

In men's action, Kalen Dockweiler (JR/Callaway, Neb.) met the provisional qualifying time in the 1000m run based on the indoor flat track conversion time. He posted a winning time of 2:32.42 with a conversion time of 2:30.35, the 2nd-best time in the NAIA this season.

Carter Reckling (SO/Crete, Neb.) matched his personal best in the high jump as he hit a winning height of 2.01m (6-07.00). His mark met the provisional qualifying mark.

The men's weight throw saw three Tigers hit NAIA standard marks. Matthew Campbell (SR/Ainsworth, Neb.) won the event with a throw of 19.71m (64-08.00) and sits third nationally. Luke Partridge (SO/Wahoo, Neb.) hit a personal best with a toss of 17.14m (56-03.00) and met the automatic qualifying mark while moving into 11th place on the NAIA chart. Trey Dickey (FR/Beaver Crossing, Neb.) added a personal best and moved into 23rd on the NAIA rankings as he had a throw of 16.37m (53-08.50).

The women recorded four wins on the day. Annika Pingel (SR/Pella, Iowa) won the 800m run (2:23.96), Samantha Knapp (FR/Elm Creek, Neb.) won the pole vault with a personal-best clearance of 2.97m (9-09.00), Haley Miller (SR/Plattsmouth, Neb.) won the triple jump (10.28m) and Baucom won the shot put.

For the men, victories went to Luke Davis (FR/Papillion, Neb.) in the 60m (7.07) and the 200m (23.19). His 200m time was a personal best. Logan Hammond (SR/Ogallala, Neb.) won the 400m (52.02) to go with Dockweiler's win the 1000m to cap the individual track event wins. The men's 4x400m relay team won with a time of 3:34.21. Victories in the field events went to Reckling in the high jump, Mike Pulliam (SO/Wilber, Neb.) in the pole vault (4.50m), David Arcos in the long jump (6.68m), Trevor Malone (SO/Crete, Neb.) in the triple jump (13.29m), and Campbell in the weight throw.

Next up for the Tigers is the Prairie Wolf Invite on January 21 or the Polar Dog Invite on January 22. Traditionally Doane will send athletes to one of the two events.
