Cora spent 2017-2021 as the Pittsburgh Pirates third base coach. The team decided to let him go at the end of this season.
Cora is the older brother of current Red Sox manager Alex Cora.
Cora began his playing career in 1987 with the San Diego Padres and would remain in the major leagues through 1998 as a member of four separate teams. His coaching career began in the Mets minor league systems and he’s been a major league coach since 2004.
