[Men's Soccer] Soccer Comes Home with a Win
It wasn't easy and it wasn't always pretty at times but Williamson, who needed a win to get back on track, got exactly that. The Mechanics built an early lead and then survived a late scare to come away with a 5-3 road victory over Patrick Henry College on Saturday afternoon.
Rich Torelli (SR/Philadelphia, PA) got Williamson on the board first off a nice feed from Scott Wilshire (JR/Cape May, NJ) to put Williamson up 1-0. Brandon Cairy (FR/Media, PA) then scored his second unassisted goal in as many games to increase the lead to 2-0.
A second goal by Torelli and a goal off a penalty kick for Willy Tilley gave Williamson a 4-2 cushion late in the game before the Diplomats closed to within 4-3. Jimmy McChesney then iced things for Williamson in the last minute with his second goal on the year. Williamson outshot their hosts 22-12 in moving to 2-2-1 on the year.
The Mechanics play their final road game of the year on Tuesday, and it will be a tall task, as they take on nationally ranked Bucks County Community College in a 3:30 P.M. start.
