The New York Mets announced pregame on Tuesday evening that infielder Jose Peraza has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a fractured right middle finger.

Peraza has been one of the more clutch hitters off the bench for the Mets this season. He’s hitting just .206 with six homers on the season, but in late and close situations he has a 101 OPS+, four doubles, a homer, and four RBI.

The absence of his clutch right-handed bat off the bench will be a big loss for the Mets.

In a corresponding roster move, the Mets have recalled right-hander Geoff Hartlieb from Triple-A Syracuse. The Mets claimed Hartlieb off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates prior to their doubleheader last week.

He pitched just 7.2 innings with the Pirates this season before being DFA’d. The right-hander allowed four runs and walked five in that span, which was poor enough for a 7.71 ERA and 1.71 WHIP.

Hartlieb hasn’t pitched very well in the big league thus far in his career, but has put together some solid minor league numbers. He could provide the taxed Mets bullpen with some much needed relief behind right-hander Robert Stock as they take on the Reds again tonight.
