The Season So Far

The Good: The Sox are in first place (in a weak division).

They have a starting pitcher that went from dreadful last year to absolutely mind-boggling amazing this season. A true Hollywood story no one would have believed coming into the season.

The Bad...

They have a highly-paid catcher hitting .150.

They don’t seem to have a catcher that will ever throw out a runner at second.

They have a highly-paid closer that is not dependable.

They have no other closers that are currently dependable, either.

They have infielders trying to play the outfield.

They have some infielders who are trying to play the infield.

They have an energetic and talented shortstop who has to divide his mindset worrying about offending the Hall of Fame Manager (even though publicly he won’t it admit it).

They have a statue-worthy first baseball playing his rear-end off every day and night trying to will his team to victory but he is banged up and not getting near enough help from his mates.

This is a team that beats up on weaker opponents but struggles mightily against the better MLB teams.

They have a storybook DH who has taken the league by storm but his cocky attitude doesn’t sit well with the Hall of Fame Manager who seems to think this conflicts with the Hall of Fame Manager’s own cocky attitude.

They have an Ace Starter that has lost something off his pitches from last season.

They have a television broadcast team that can plainly see what’s going on with this team but aren’t allowed to say it because... they aren’t allowed to say it.

Ever since the Hall of Fame Manager threw one of his own players under the bus, the team has lost energy and focus and now worries that one of them might be next to be tossed under there as well. Some are being measured for tread-marks. Others might need to put in a resume with the CTA.

The Good:

This is a division that can be won without a great deal of effort and there are plenty of games left in the season to find a way to beat the better MLB teams.

The Bad:

There are plenty of ways this team can go off the rails and ruin a season that could have been one of the more special in Sox history.

Bottom Line: It’s only a few months until Spring Training 2022!
