Yankees to be without Giancarlo Stanton, Gleyber Torres, and Aaron Hicks on Saturday
Giancarlo Stanton, Gleyber Torres, and Aaron Hicks are all out of the starting lineup for the Yankees on Saturday, RotoWire reports. Stanton will miss his second consecutive game due to what the team is calling a sore quad. Manager Aaron Boone had stated Friday that it might be a few days before Stanton would return but that the injury wasn’t considered to be severe. Therefore, placement on the injury list isn’t expected to be needed.
Torres, along with a slew of coaches and staff members for the Yankees, tested positive for COVID-19. Torres had some back luck here as not only did he have COVID in December, but he was also fully vaccinated. Unfortunately, as of Saturday, he was still testing positive. The Yankees are hopeful that once he tests negative, MLB will allow him to return to the team without the standard quarantine, but that remains to be seen.
The injury to Hicks is a torn tendon sheath in his wrist, and that injury could be anything from day to day to season-ending, depending upon the medication he is taking. If the medication works, Hicks could play as soon as Sunday; if not, he would need to undergo surgery and may not be seen again until 2022.
The Yankees are -111 (-1.5) on the run line, -174 on the money line, and the game has an over/under of nine, over (-106), and the under (-114) at FanDuel.com.
