Mariners Moose Tracks, 5/6/21: Hunter Greene, Anthony Rendon, and Tony La Russa

Good morning everyone! The Mariners did not, in fact, win the series yesterday. Now the team has a day off today before they get a chance to wash away the taste of last night’s defeat. Meanwhile, here’s what’s going on around baseball.
In Mariners news...

In the Minors...
- The Modesto Nuts had some trouble in their second game against Stockton, falling 8-3. Robert Pérez had a great game at the dish, collecting a pair of doubles. Meanwhile Connor Phillips struck out six batters in just over three innings in his professional debut. (Box score)
- It took extra innings, but the uber-talented Everett AquaSox managed to nab their first win of the season in a 3-2 victory over Hillsboro. Levi Stoudt impressed in his first outing of the year, with seven punchouts in four frames. On the other side, Zach DeLoach had a huge day at the plate, hitting his first homer in the Mariners organization. (Box score)
- The Northwest Arkansas Naturals continue to give the Arkansas Travelers a lot of trouble in the early goings, shutting out our favorite Double-A squad 2-0 thanks to a masterful performance by Royals pitching prospect Jonathan Bowlan. The Mariners brass has to be happy with Darren McCaughan’s start for the Travs, as he struck out six and walked none over 5.2 innings. After an excellent 2019 season in Arkansas, McCaughan is likely headed to Tacoma (or maybe Seattle) sooner rather than later. (Box score)
