WICHITA, Kan. — The Friends University Falcons dropped a pair of KCAC games Saturday (Apr. 17) to the McPherson College Bulldogs at West Side Athletic Field.

Elerie Rivera (JR/Patillas, Puerto Rico) got things started for the Falcons in the opener with a leadoff double in the first inning before Wes Kuzminsky (JR/Salkum, Wash. ) brought him home to give Friends the early 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs responded with a run of their own in the next half inning to tie it, but Sam Engberg (FR/Kearney, Neb. ) broke the tie coming around to score on an error.

From there, McPherson's offense took control, scoring one run in the fifth and sixth innings before Trevor Johnson hit a three-run homer in the seventh.  The Bulldogs notched two more in the eighth to take an 8-2 advantage.

Nijai Armbrister (FR/Nassau, Bahamas) finished the scoring with his first career home run over the centerfield fence.

Devin Dodson (FR/Colorado Springs, Colo.) threw 6.1 innings for the Falcons and struck out seven batters. Kuzminsky went 1-for-4 at the plate for the Falcons with two RBIs, while Engberg finished 1-for-2 with a run scored.

The offense carried over to the nightcap for the Bulldogs, scoring one run in the second and two in the fourth before adding five in the fifth and nine in the sixth en route to a 17-0 win.

The Bulldogs had four homers and five doubles in the second game to finish with 18 hits.

The teams will finish up the three-game set on Sunday (Apr. 18) with a nine-inning game starting at noon at West Side Athletic Field.
