Los Angeles Clippers Add DeMarcus Cousins

0 27

DeMarcus Cousins is joining the Los Angeles Clippers on a 10-day contract, as reported by Shams Charania. Boogie last played on February 17 with the Houston Rockets and was waived on February 23.

In 25 games, 11 starts, with the Rockets, Cousins averaged 9.6 points and 7.6 boards, which equaled 25.5 FanDuel Fantasy Points per outing. Cousin’s effectiveness from the field this season has been the worst of his career; posting a 37.6% shooting percentage, including hitting only 42.6% of his two-point shots.

The Clippers have been thin upfront since Serge Ibaka went down with a back injury. Ibaka has missed the last 11 games, including Sunday’s contest against the Los Angeles Lakers, with what’s being called back tightness. Ivica Zubac has started at center in Ibaka’s absence and has been moderately productive. Zubac is averaging 28.5 FanDuel Fantasy Points per contest, with a high of 38.6 against the San Antonio Spurs on March 25.

Boogie will have to clear the NBA’s health and safety protocols before he is cleared to join the team. The Clippers play three games in four nights from Tuesday to Friday, and if all goes well, Cousins should be able to join the team at some point this week. Boogie will need to improve his productiveness if he hopes to stay with the team on a more permanent basis.

The Clippers are +600 to win the NBA Finals at FanDuel Sportsbook.
