[Men's Golf] Spring season gets underway for St. Ambrose men's golf team

St. Ambrose teed off its spring schedule by finishing ninth at the TPC Deere Run Invitational hosted by Lawrence Tech Friday and Saturday in Silvis, Ill.

Owen Hultman was the top Bee finisher, tying for 25th with a two-day 156. He opened with an 81 before climbing the leaderboard with a 75 Saturday.

Jared Tigges also shot a 75, carding that in Friday's opening round. He followed that with an 82 to slip into 30th place overall with a 157.

Mick Haverland was third on SAU, shooting rounds of 82 and 77 for a 159. Eric Spurgetis had back-to-back 82s to finish with a 164. Reid Calvert finished with a 170 (87-83).

St. Ambrose compiled rounds of 320 and 316 to finish in a tie for ninth in the 16-team event with a 636. Faulkner (607) held off Missouri Valley (609) by two shots to win the team title. Spring Arbor's Trevor Rupp was the individual medalist with a 2-over 144. 

SAU will compete in the Augustana Spring Invitational next Friday and Saturday at Highland Springs Golf Club in Rock Island, Ill.
