49ers Not Expected to Trade Jimmy Garoppolo
The 49ers completed a trade to move up to the third spot in the upcoming draft, signaling their intention to select their quarterback of the future. They have recently been linked to former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones, but both general manager John Lynch and head coach Jimmy Garoppolo will be in attendance for Jones’, Trey Lance’s, and Justin Fields’ pro days.
While that certainly doesn’t bode well for Garoppolo’s future as the 49ers’ starting quarterback, it doesn’t sound like he will be going anywhere in the near future. Shanahan believes it would be hard to find a quarterback who can help them win more than Garoppolo, and the team is clearly trying to win next season. They failed to qualify for the postseason last year, but they made it to the Super Bowl in 2019-20. Ultimately, expect Garoppolo to be under center for Week 1 of the upcoming season with a young quarterback waiting in the wings.
The 49ers are currently listed at +1400 to win Super Bowl LVI on FanDuel Sportsbook.
