Mets Will Not Hire Replacement GM In Short-Term

Sandy Alderson said in a press conference Tuesday afternoon the Mets will not immediately seek to replace Jared Porter as general manager following his termination.

Alderson said he is comfortable with the front office group the Mets have in place right now, and that he will obviously “be a little more involved” in baseball operations once again. He did note that “in his mind” he has been the president of baseball operations since he was hired, so not much will change with that aspect moving forward.

Though it’s reported that both Cohen and Alderson like assistant general manager Zack Scott–a former co-worker of Porter’s before the Mets–Alderson said he won’t immediately be promoted to the general manager job. He will, though, talk to Scott about what his role looks like in the coming days.
