[Women's Basketball] Women's Basketball Rallies; Falls in Overtime

Women's Basketball hosted Jamestown on Wednesday morning in conference action. The Tigers were outscored early in the game but a hot-shooting streak in the fourth quarter allowed Doane to push the game into overtime. Ultimately, the Tigers fell to the Jimmies, 90-81. Doane's record drops to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in GPAC play with Jamestown now 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the GPAC.

Haylee Heits (SR/Rulo, Neb.) led the Tigers from the beginning, scoring eight of the team's 11 points in the first quarter. Doane trailed 22-11 after the first 10 minutes of play. Five Tigers scored in the second quarter as both teams put up 16 points. The Jimmies led 38-27 going into halftime.

Jamestown was able to extend their lead to 20 points in the third quarter but Doane continued to keep themselves in the game, trailing 63-50 after the third. A 16-0 run by the Tigers in the fourth allowed Doane to take the lead, 74-72. Jamestown responded with two jump shots to regain the lead. A free throw from each team kept Doane within two and a layup by Sydney Roth (SO/Deshler, Neb.) with five seconds left in regulation tied the game and forced overtime. A 10-point run, six coming from the free throw line, allowed the Jimmies to pull away with the win, outscoring the Tigers, 13-4, in the five minute overtime period.

Doane was led by Heits with 24 points. Roth recorded 14 points while Olivia Nall (FR/Tilden, Neb.) added 12 points and seven rebounds. Ashley Teten (SO/Auburn, Neb.) posted her first career double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. The Tigers were 22-of-37 from the charity stripe.

Jamestown was led by Hannah DeMars with 39 points and 12 rebounds. Kia Tower finished with 17 points, knocking down four 3-pointers. Macy Savela also sunk four three-pointers as she recorded 12 points. The Jimmies were 14-of-20 from the free throw line.

Doane shot 39-percent from the field and 16-percent from 3-point range, while Jamestown shot 43-percent from the field and 31-percent from 3-point range.

The Tigers will be back in action on December 2 when they host Midland at 6 PM.
