Mariners Moose Tracks, 10/21/20: The Los Angeles Dodgers, Cal Raleigh, and Luis Campusano
Some links to kick off your Wednesday.
Hello everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the first game of the World Series last night. Let’s get you caught up on the latest from around baseball.
In playoff news...
- The Los Angeles Dodgers bats came alive in Game 1 of the World Series as the team cruised to an 8-3 win over the Rays.
In Mariners news...
- We’ve got stats from yesterday’s instructional league game.
#Mariners defeat the Rangers 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon. DH Cal Raleigh records 2 hits, including a home run. RHP Brendan McGuigan struck out 5 over the 8th and 9th innings. The Mariners return to action on Wednesday for a 6 pm nightcap at the Padres in Peoria. pic.twitter.com/RFLxXZizoK

- Here’s a video of that Cal Raleigh homer.
Around the league...
- Chandler Rome previews what could be a tough offseason for the Astros, given that many of their top players are set to hit free agency.
- Ginny Searle at Baseball Prospectus previewed this year’s World Series. ($)
- At least he has a good sense of humor about it. Also, isn’t this tweet itself a statement? This is kind of a Catch-22.
BREAKING: @mlbtraderumors deletes tweet about Pat Light retiring citing, "No one gives a shit about that guy retiring". No response from the Pat Light Camp yet, although, I'm told that there will be one coming.

- The Padres will be without one of their bullpen arms next season.
Luis Perdomo underwent Tommy John surgery last week. Dr. Keith Meister performed the operation in Texas. Perdomo is expected to miss all of the 2021 season.

- Speaking of the Padres, San Diego’s top catching prospect Luis Campusano was arrested in Georgia for possession of marijuana.
- Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly promised fans that the ballpark experience would be “back to normal” in 2022.
- Yadier Molina is hoping to lock down a multi-year contract this winter. I’m curious if the Mariners, who could be players for J.T. Realmuto, would entertain bringing on Molina (for the right price) to work with the young staff.
- Rob Manfred hopes that the expanded playoffs and extra-innings runner rule stay in place going forward. I’m still opposed to the notion of 16 teams making the playoffs. I could maybe get on board with 12.
