[Men's Tennis] Hawks Men Dominate Day 1 of ITA Regionals

San Diego, CA – The Hawks men's tennis team picked up where they left off last season and dominated the opening day of the 2020 ITA Regional Championships. After the first two rounds of bracket play, of the eight singles players that advanced to the quarterfinals, five of them were Hawks.

Julius Kaufmann advanced to the quarterfinals by beating Westmont's Michael Hopkins and Benny Saito. Ivan Smith beat ACU's Jonas Wand after a first-round bye and Antun Katanec defeated ACU's Justis Kau and Westmont's Matt Alleman.  With first-round byes, No. 2 seed, Chris Papa, and No. 1 seed, Nick Neinhaus made quick work of ACU's Leon Oliver 6-0, 6-0, and Westmont's, Zac Prince 6-1, 6-1, to advance to the quarters.

In doubles, all three SDCC teams advanced to the quarterfinals.

Bracket play continues Thursday at Barnes Tennis Center in Point
