9 photos of MLB mascots watching baseball in empty stadiums

0 4

There may not be any fans allowed in Major League Baseball parks around the country, but teams and TV networks are doing what they can to create a false sense normalcy during the coronavirus pandemic. Many clubs have filled seats with cardboard cutouts of actual fans, while networks like Fox Sports introduced virtual fan technology – which got awful initial reviews this weekend -and have added fake crowd noise to broadcasts.

Despite the fact that there are no fans to entertain in their seats, MLB have still been in costume, braving the summer heat and patrolling stadiums for the rare occasion they show up on TV broadcasts for comic relief. When no one’s looking, though, they get to plop down in an empty seat and enjoy the game.
