I'm just as confused as Dodger coach Jake Pitler in the photo above, taken by Barney Stein (eBay auction link). It features skipper Walter Alston in the midst of digging a hole. Unfortunately, there isn't any background information describing the event.

Below are more links to check out:
  • This Day in Dodgers History: In 1965 (OT) Union army general Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas to inform everyone that all people held as slaves in Texas are free. This event is celebrated as Juneteenth -- a celebration of emancipation within the confederacy.
  • Happy Birthday
  • A talk with former Dodger Gary Sheffield, via a tweet from AM570:
  • Cecil Cooperstown shares a fun drawing of a 1976 Topps Baseball card featuring Davey Lopes -- and some other stolen base heroes.
  • Via Matthew Moreno at Dodger Blue -- "Justin & Kourtney Turner Partner With Baseballism For ‘#MoonOnAMission’ Collection To Support Justin Turner Foundation COVID-19 Relief Efforts."
  • Via Dan Szymborski at FanGraphs -- "COVID-19 Roundup: There’s Still a Pandemic Going On."
  • And so it begins. Via Mike Oz at Yahoo Sports -- "Phillies camp hit with coronavirus outbreak, infecting five players."

  • Ugh! Per an AP report -- "After three-month virus delay, Japan opens its shortened baseball season." I blame the lack of normal life in America, to the lack of leadership within the Executive Branch of government. If folks had faith and trust in how the country is being managed during these trying times, we wouldn't be where we are today.
  • Clayton Kershaw shows once again why he is a leader, via a tweet from him. On a side note, it should be noted that Clayton's twitter page includes the following bible reference -- Colossians 3:23 - "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."
