0 3

The Brescia men's track and field team raced in the River States Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 7 in Tiffin, Ohio, finishing seventh place overall.

The meet kicked off with the 4x800m relay, where the relay team of Benjamin Brown (FR, Memphis, Mich.), Tyler Walz (FR, Hawesville, Ky.), Wes Wheatley (FR, Hawesville, Ky.), and James Barrow (FR, Elizabethtown, Ky.) finished the race in sixth place, scoring three points.

While the 4x800 was going on on the track, Landon Holt (SR, Dawson Springs, Ky.) placed third in long jump with a 6.22m jump -- the first of many All-Conference awards the reigning RSC Outdoor Men's Track Athlete of the Year would earn at the meet. Simultaneously, Andrew Parker (SO, Louisville, Ky.) placed sixth in shot put -- scoring three points for the team.

In the mile, Brown ran 4:54 -- setting a new PR for the third meet in a row -- and scored one point for the Bearcats. Following the mile, Jayden Wesley (SO, Pikeville, Ky.) scored two points for the team in the 60m hurdles, with a seventh place finish.

Next, Holt secured his second All-Conference award in the 400m, running 50.92 and placing second. Minutes after his 400m finish, Holt sprinted the 60m dash, finishing fourth with a 7.19.

In the field events, Parker finished second in the weight throw, throwing 13.67m and earning All-Conference honors. In triple jump, Jacob Stanley (SR, Owensboro, Ky.) finished sixth, jumping 11.81m.

In pole vault, Bryce Ladd (FR, Benton, Ky.) and Holt finished second and third, respectively, vaulting 3.35m and 3.05m and both making the podium. Back on the track, Brown ran the 600m in 1:31.52, finishing fifth.

Next, Holt finished fifth in the 200m, running 23.15 seconds. In the 4x400m relay, the relay team of Devin Roche (JR, Auburn, Ky.), Holt, Marvin Ramirez (FR, Owensboro, Ky.), and Wesley ran 3:38.73, placing second and making the All-Conference team.

In the final event of the meet, the distance medley relay team of Brown, Stanley, Walz, and Barrow finished seventh -- scoring two points.

The Bearcats will be back in action on February 15 at the DePauw University Invitational.
