A potental trade target that nobody is talking about

0 4

That guy is also a former Oakland A and we might continue with bringing back old friends. Right now he is a 32 year old pitcher, who pitches for the Seattle Mariners. He is earning the league minimum and will be a free agent after this year. His ERA is 3.4, WHIP 0.95, BAA .208, BB/K 10 to 49 in 50.1 IP. Wow those numbers are actually good. Who am I talking about? Tommy Milone. Yep. Surprised?

It seemed like he was going to stay away from the MLB after a couple of dissapointing seasons, but there he is. Usually he goes like 5 ir 6 innings in his starts, but could also become the second Wang, who by the way has also surprisingly done a really good job. Probably Milone will be the second best rental option available after Wheeler's injury. Of course Bumgarner might be the preferable guy to have, but his price range could be out of A's comfort zone especially now when Wheeler could be out. Milone is cheaper and we his price tag should be way lower than MadBum's, maybe 3 or 4. I wanted to see on the baseballtradevalues side, but even there I couldn't find him. I don't think that fans are realising about the year that Milone is having. Maybe he wasn't great in AAA, but he got it going and I think that he would be a better option than Homer Bailey. His value was about 1.5mln, so I would assume that Milone would be around 3-4mln. Maybe Skye Bolt plus some minor league pitcher lottery ticket could do it like Charles. We would be at 3mln and maybe that would be enough?

Another thing about Milone is that he asked for a trade in 2014 when he got pushed down the depth order by Samardzija and Hammel. We decided to help him and we send him to the Twins. It might be akward to have him back, but things have changed a lot in 5 years. Milone would probably have a way more important job now compared to 2014 and we listened to him and gave him the opportunity to pitch more regularly for another team. That means that probably he was a well liked and respected zzentelman in the clubhouse. Besides he was a huge part of the 2012 cinderella story and I'm sure many of us will never forget that year. Maybe he wasn't an ace, but he was a great option to have for the back of the rotation something the A's really need right now. He can be a second Wang if the rotation is healthy and has a Luzardo and Manaea in September, but don't assume that it will be like that. It could be that Brett Anderson will get injures again and Chris Bassitt might join him on the IL. Suddendly a Tommy Milone and Homer Bailey duo become the key to surviving.
