Wareham host surging Bourne Braves on bark in the park night

0 3
WAREHAM- All dogs are welcome to Spillane field as the Wareham Gatemen host the Bourne Braves in West Division matchup
Last week if you were to look at the Bourne Braves you would not think they were a playoff team. However the Braves are currently on a 3 game winning streak and they have created separation from the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the standings.
The most impressive part is who the Braves have defeated the past couple of games. The Braves defeated the Cotuit Kettleers 6-4 and the Falmouth Commodores 14-0. The offensive outburst has been a pleasant surprise for a team that has struggled to generate runs all season.
Cade Beloso (LSU) has led the Braves offense batting .310. Cody Morissette (Boston College) is batting an impressive .309 with 11 RBI, and lastly Jud Fabian (Florida) is batting .308 with 3 home runs.
Mac Lardner (Gonzaga) has been the ace of the Braves with a .81 ERA in 22 innings pitched with 17 strikeouts. Harrison Rutkowski (Rutgers) has been great as well posting a 1.87 ERA in 24 innings pitched with 15 strikeouts.
Bourne has worked themselves up to a middle of the pack offensive team and pitching team. The Braves are ranked 5thin team batting average (.247) and 4thin team ERA (3.80). The Wareham Gatemen are less balanced ranking 1stin team batting average (.294) and 8thin team ERA (4.20).
The Gatemen are on a 2 game winning streak and are fresh off a dominant 7-0 victory over the league best Chatham Anglers. Wareham also looked impressive in its 13-2 win over the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox.
The pitching has vastly improved, both starters and relievers, and the offense has been the finest in the league. Last night Ian Bedell (Missouri) proved that he is one of the best pitchers on the cape going 7 innings only allowing 1 hit. The night before the Red Sox only got 4 hits on the Gatemen.
On the mound for the Gatemen tonight is JP Gates. Gates is 0-2 this season with a 3.85 in 9.1 innings pitched. Gates last time out was against Harwich and he let up 2 runs on 5 hits in 3.1 innings of action.
