Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs passes away at age 27

0 4

A talented young player is gone much too soon.

The Angels announced Monday afternoon that left-handed pitcher Tyler Skaggs passed away in Arlington, Texas. He was 27 years old. No cause of death was immediately given.

Monday’s scheduled game against the Rangers has been postponed due to the tragedy.

Skaggs spent seven seasons in the major leagues, being drafted by the Angels in 2009 before being traded to the Diamondbacks the next year. He was dealt back to Los Angeles in December 2013.

This is yet another tragedy for an Angels organization that has endured quite a bit of sadness in recent years. Nick Adenhart, a promising rookie pitcher, was killed in a car accident at the age of 22 after his first start of the season in 2009.

We at MLB Daily Dish have Skaggs, his family, and his teammates, coaches, and friends in our thoughts.
