Trade Deadline season is officially underway with the New York Mets acquiring designated hitter/first baseman Daniel Vogelbach from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday. New York sent Pittsburgh right-handed relief pitcher Colin Holderman in the deal.

The Mets recently placed Dominic Smith on the 10-day injured list with a sprained right ankle. The move is retroactive to July 17. Now the Mets announced they’ve selected the contract of INF/OF Travis Blankenhorn from Triple-A Syracuse to take Smith’s place on the active roster.
