The Oakland A’s activated third baseman Matt Chapman from the disabled list on Tuesday, the team announced. To make room on the roster, rookie infielder Franklin Barreto was optioned back to Triple-A Nashville.

The Royals have signed first-round pick Brady Singer to a contract with a $4.25 million bonus. The University of Florida junior was the 18th-overall pick in last month’s draft with an assigned slot bonus value of $3,349,300.

He’ll reportedly sign a one-day contract with Philadelphia before hanging it up.
