[Football] Four Knights earn Mid-South Awards

COLUMBIA, Ky.- The St. Andrews University football team has landed three players on the First Team All Mid-South Conference Team and one player on the Academic All Mid-South Team for the 2018 season.

Sophomore Kashard Cohens (SO/Norfolk, VA) received the honor of being named to the First Team All Mid-South Conference Appalachian Division after a season of stellar performance. Cohens led the Knights in offensive yards collecting 499 yards of turf throughout the season. The slot position was locked in by Cohens for the First Team honors as he collected 8 touchdowns and averaged 62.4 yards per game. Cohens was also named Mid-South Offensive Player of the Week this season as well.

The next Knight to be named to the First Team All Mid-South Conference Appalachian Division was defensive lineman, Darius West (SO/Jacksonville, NC). The sophomore out of Jacksonville, NC recorded 8 sacks in the 2018 season causing a loss of 39.5 yards for his opponents. West tallied 34 tackles with more than half of his total tackles being handled solely by West himself.

Freshman defensive back, Idrise Strange (FR/Mooresville, NC) was the final SAU football member to receive the First Team honor as he recorded 43 tackles in his debut season. Strange led the Knights in interceptions for the 2018 season as he tallied 4 picks.

Long snapper Jacob Young (SO/Laurinburg, NC) was the lone Knight earning the honors of being named to the Academic All Mid-South Team.  In order to be nominated by an institution for this award, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status.

St. Andrews will finish their 2018 season on the road against Hampton University this Saturday, November 17th, at 1:00 PM.
