[Cross Country] Six Cavs Named Daktronics XC Scholar-Athletes
MONTREAT, N.C. – Four men's and two women's cross country student-athletes have been named 2018 Daktronics-NAIA Cross Country Scholar-Athletes, the league announced on Thursday.
Daniel Newcomb (Candler, N.C.), Rylan Hincher (North Wilkesboro, N.C.), Jacob Parker (Elkin, N.C.), and Eli Hall (Columbus, N.C.) received the honor on the men's side, while Madeline Sides (Denver, N.C.) and Lydia Wilson (Smithfield, Va.) represented the women's side.
In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
In total, 347 women and 223 men were recognized. Montreat's four men tied Reinhardt for the most Appalachian Athletic Conference males honored out of 14 total. Only Milligan and SCAD Atlanta had more females honored than Montreat's two as the AAC produced 19 total female scholar-athletes.
