[Women's Soccer] Tigers pick up big win on homecoming against Trojans

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Olivet Nazarene University Women's soccer team took the field on Saturday afternoon against Trinity International University in front of a large Homecoming crowd. The Tigers would use it to their advantage in their final Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regular season matchup of the year as they knocked off the visiting Trojans by a score of 3-2. Not only did the Tigers pick up a big win at home, but their two solid halves of play allowed them to send their four-year players off on a high note on Senior Day.

The Tigers' Sarah Buffum (JR/Byron Center, Mich.) found the back of the net in the 19th minute to give ONU the early advantage, but the Trojans answered with a goal of their own in the 23rd minute. The Tigers did not hang their heads though as they responded just seven minutes later. ONU was aided by the tremendous play of Lauren Harrigan (JR/Bloomington, Ill.), who scored on a penalty kick in the 30th minute, before adding some insurance with a goal in the 52nd minute. TIU responded in the 88th minute to cut the lead in half, but the Tigers were able to lock down on defense and keep the Trojans out of the net in the final two minutes of play to clinch the win.
